CanoScan Toolbox Notes to User page.1
Version 4.9.2.0
March, 2005
1. RELEASE INFORMATION
- This version of CanoScan Toolbox runs on Windows 98, Windows 2000
Professional, Windows Me, Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP
Professional.
- Make sure that you have adequate disk space available when scanning
large documents at high resolutions. For instance, scanning a full
page color document at 600 dpi requires a minimum of 300MB of
available disk space.
- When CanoScan Toolbox is displayed behind another application or
dialog box, main window of CanoScan Toolbox may not appear in front
when you push the scanner push button.
- Please use the [Small Fonts] option for the display font.
(Use [Normal size] in Windows XP)
CanoScan Toolbox may not display correctly with other font sizes.
To adjust this setting, open the Windows Control Panel and
select[Display], click the [Settings] tab, click the [Advanced]
button, click the [General] tab, and select [Small Fonts] in the
font size list box.
- CanoScan Toolbox does not operate correctly on operating systems
that support double-byte languages, such as Japanese and Chinese,
etc.
- If the scanner is connected to another USB port on the computer
when running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, even when the scanner
button is pressed, a dialog box for selecting the application is
displayed without starting the Toolbox.
In this case, start the Toolbox, click the [Defaults] button in
the [Settings] screen, and reboot the computer.
- Copy/Print functions are applicable when you use the local printer
with a PC connected to a scanner. (Please follow the instruction
manual to set up the printer.) Printing errors may occur with network
printers.
2. APPLICATION NOTES
- Some applications may not be able to open files using long file page.2
names. In this case, please specify a folder and file name using the
traditional DOS file name convention with a maximum of 8+3 characters
separated by a dot.
- CanoScan Toolbox may not be able to transfer scanned images to some
applications you may link.
These applications require that you scan or insert an image from
within the application itself.
- If a button in CanoScan Toolbox is clicked, and the registered
application for this button is already running or is active, some
applications may fail to properly acquire the scan. In this case,
please exit the application before clicking the associated button in
CanoScan Toolbox again.
- The automatic file attachment function supports the following
programs.
QUALCOMM Eudora
Microsoft Outlook Express
Microsoft Outlook
Netscape Messenger
If you are using a program not shown above, select the
[None (Attach Manually)] option in the Settings for E-Mail program
dialog and attach files manually according to that programチfs regular
procedures.
- Some application may not be able to display PDF files created by
CanoScan Toolbox with thumbnail view properly.
